During my third year of college, we were required to choose a minor. I opted for Information Design, a program that introduced me to fascinating and highly educational courses over six months. During this time, I worked on several projects, many of which you can view here on my portfolio website.
One project, in particular, stood out for its quirky and creative nature. The assignment was simple: visualize a story about food in a fun and visually appealing way. What food item we chose and how we told the story was entirely up to us. So, I started brainstorming: What food is interesting enough to spend three weeks writing about and turning into a visual story? It didn’t take me long to land on apples.

"But he saw something special in my seductive curves and before I knew it I was the proud namesake of a billion-dollar company."
Apples are everywhere, in famous stories, art, and even history. I figured I could craft something unique and engaging by weaving these narratives together. I created a sassy apple as the main character and let it guide us through the thrilling adventures of its life. The apple “falls” (literally) through different stories, reminding us how often this simple fruit appears in our culture. Think Adam and Eve, the iconic artwork Le Fils de l’Homme, Snow White, Steve Jobs and his legendary tech company, Isaac Newton, and, of course, Wilhelm Tell.

The story of this peculiar apple isn’t chronological, nor is it strictly factual, but it’s fun and exciting, which was exactly the point of the assignment. My professors loved the creativity and applauded the playful approach I brought to the project.

This project also helped me improve my skills in Adobe Illustrator and gave me the chance to experiment with Figma animations. Overall, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to explore and enjoyed the creative process from start to finish.
